DMH Imaging Department

MRI techThe imaging department at Davis Memorial Hospital is first rate. Our skilled technologists use state-of-the-art technology to perform diagnostic tests for our patients 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. The result is high quality images that help speed the diagnosis, and consequent treatment planning. A unique Picture Archive Computer System (PACS) streamlines radiologic image sharing and storing between our facilities and other healthcare providers.

Some of the technology we use includes:

  • CT scanner - Computerized Tomography (CT) scans provide detailed X-ray pictures of the inside of a patient's body. Davis Memorial Hospital offers state-of-the-art 64-slice CT scanning and Broaddus Hospital offers top-of-the-line 4-slice CT scanning.
  • PET scanner - Davis Memorial Hospital offers Positron Emission Tomography (PET)scans show how the organs and tissues are functioning.
  • MRI -Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is an exam used to visualize the structure and function of the body, and provides detailed images of the body in any plane. This service is offered at Davis Memorial and one day a week at Broaddus Hospital.
  • Bone densitometry - Bone scans determine density according to the radiation absorption rate of the skeletal structure. Available at both Davis Memorial and Broaddus Hospitals.
  • Digital mammography - Davis Memorial Hospital's digital technology provides highly detailed mammography images in moments with the built-in benefit of computer-aided detection. Breast cushions are available to offer a softer, warmer mammogram.
  • Ultrasound - Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create a picture of the structures inside the body. In addition to being available at both Davis Memorial and Broaddus, Buckhannon Medical Clinic also offers this service to patients.
  • Echocardiography - This high tech unit uses ultrasound waves to create an image of the heart muscle. Available at both Davis Memorial and Broaddus Hospitals.
  • Cardiac cath / angiography - Catheterizations produce pictures of the heart and coronary arteries are seen after injecting a radiopaque substance. This service is available at Davis Memorial Hospital only.
